LAND
Peru's road network consists of more than 70,000 km of roads, of which about 16,000 km are national highways, like the Pan-Amercian. Some are access roads to the mountains, and the others to basic jungle highways. Roads can be divided into three categories: highways, paved roads and dirt roads. Although not part of the road network, the mule tracks deserve special mention. Today, Peru has trucking companies with high quality services.

Rail
After decades of neglect, the railway networks are becoming a safe and comfortable way to travel throughout Peru through the privatization of its operations. This is the case of the line linking Cusco to the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, perhaps the most popular routes of the country. There are several service options ranging from basic cars to luxury. The trip lasts from 2 to 3 hours and provides a good lesson in geography and culture, since it crosses many different ecological areas and archaeological remains.
In addition to the above route, there is a luxury train connecting Cusco and Puno (Andean Explorer). This very a beautiful trip that goes through the Titicaca Altiplano, and takes all day.
Finally, the route between Huancayo and Huancavelica, operated by Tren Macho, has started to operate again and is very popular with travelers on the central highlands.

River
Rivers are the highways of the Amazon rain forest. All major cities of the Amazon, as Iquitos, Pucallpa, Yurimaguas and Puerto Maldonado have river ports from where boats leave to go to the towns of the interior. While there are barges or ships designed to carry a load and a large number of passengers, these are not very comfortable. The quintessential river boats of the Peruvian jungle are canoes with outboard motors, which make trips to the shelters and protected natural areas. The major tourism companies usually have their own fleet of canoes.
Luxury Cruise in the Amazon
Sailing under the moon light through the Amazon or enjoying a in scenic tour via modern speedboats, is possible today thanks to the commissioning of luxury cruises on the Amazon. All leave from Iquitos and make tours of 4 or 7 days to the Pacaya-Samiria reserve or the border with Brazil and Colombia. Five-star cuisine, comfort and style are their common characteristics, which makes them increasingly popular among travelers.

Lake Titicaca
Crossing of Lake Titicaca can be done via catamaran or hydrofoil.
Several companies operate boats and catamarans that provide access to some of the major tourist spots of Titicaca, and the floating islands of the Uros Islands and Taquile and Amantani. Others join Puno and Bolivia through the Strait of Tiquina and visit the islands.
Few experiences are as magical as surfing on the roof of the world.

Coast visit
In recent years there has been an increase in the offerings of boating services, by providing travelers an opportunity to visit some of the many attractions off the vast Peruvian coastline. One example is the Ballestas Islands, located off the coast of Pisco. They are accessed by speedboats that leave from Paracas, usually include the sighting of colonies of sea birds, Humboldt penguins and sea lions en route or at the islands. Other routes of interest are near the coast of Islay (Arequipa).
In addition, the visiting by boats or sailboats off Mancora (northern Peru) are opportunities for whale and dolphin watching (May to October), or tour of the pristine shores of Bayóvar (a paradise for surfers and lovers of sport fishing), and a secret visit to the islands and Paracas Bay Independence, is a treat, and frequented by tourists despite its proximity.
