Puno is a city in southeastern Peru, capital of the department of Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca. It is the main border town of southern Peru. It is also an important mining town and port.
The biggest holiday in Peru and one of the most important is in Puno and is the Feast of the Virgin Candelaria, which takes place every year during the month of February. Local and foreign visitors come to participate in this feast of the Virgen de la Candelaria.

Location of Puno

Lake Titicaca

Uros Floating Islands
There is a set of 40 large floating islands of reeds where the inhabitants still live like their ancestors, one of the oldest towns in South America, maintaining their customs and traditions.
Taquile Island

Amantani Island

Sillustani Chullpas
Chullpas Archaeological Zone, 34 km from the capital, is one of the continent's most important cemeteries. It stands at 4,000 meters on a plain surrounded by the beautiful lake Umayo. The chullpas, giant square and circular funerary monuments exceeding 12 m in height, were built by the Collas.
